Contemporary Dance School

The brief asked students to choose a function for the site and to design the building. Livia chose a dance school and set out to turn the movement and sound of dance into form.

Sound, as the result of dance or the impulse behind it, became the building's envelope. A Processing script captured the sound wave. Its graphic representation became a soundmap, the texture of the façade.

The model and perspective show the façade texture. The sections and plans show how the building's dynamic form shapes its structure.
